The Charter

Article I: Name

The official name of this organization shall be The Society of Our Sacred Honor (hereinafter referred to as “SOSH” or “The Society”).

Article II: Mission and Purpose

The Society of Our Sacred Honor is a national, non-partisan organization dedicated to fostering patriotism, civic engagement, community service, and unity across the United States. Our mission is to honor America’s history, engage its present, and inspire its future through the following principles:

  1. Liberty: We live each day with gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans, honor the sacrifices made to secure them and work to ensure they are preserved for future generations.
  2. Patriotism: Instilling a deep love for country, respect for its founding ideals, and reverence for those who have contributed to its greatness.
  3. Unity/Camaraderie: Mutual trust and friendship among people who spend time together, have a common past, a shared vision and goals, and desire for a better future.
  4. Honor: Knowing our country, its creation, promise and values are greater than us as individuals, we show the greatest regard and respect to its history, its people, and our shared future.
  5. Civic Engagement: Promoting active participation in the democratic process and fostering responsible, informed citizenship.
  6. Service to Community: Encouraging volunteerism, leadership, and charitable efforts to strengthen local communities.
  7. Preservation of History: Honoring America’s heritage through education, tributes, and the preservation of historical narratives.
  8. Innovation for the Future: Supporting forward-thinking solutions to address challenges and build a brighter future for all Americans.

Article III: Structure

The Society of Our Sacred Honor is organized into three primary levels:

Section 1: Grand Chapter (National)

  • The Grand Chapter serves as the national governing body of SOSH, responsible for setting strategic goals, providing resources, and overseeing State Chapters.
  • The Grand Chapter is led by a President and a national Executive Board, supported by strategic committees

Section 2: State Chapters

  • State Chapters operate as intermediary organizations, coordinating the activities of Local Chapters within their jurisdictions.
  • Each State Chapter is governed by a Governor and a State Executive Board, elected by Local Chapter representatives.

Section 3: Local Chapters

  • Local Chapters are the foundational units of SOSH, fostering community engagement, leadership, and service at the grassroots level.
  • Each Local Chapter is led by a Chair and other officers elected by its Members.

Article IV: Membership

Section 1: Eligibility

Membership in SOSH is open to all U.S. citizens and residents who:

  1. Support the principles and mission of The Society.
  2. Commit to upholding its Code of Conduct and values.

Section 2: Rights and Responsibilities

  1. Members’ Rights:
    • Participation in organizational activities and initiatives.
    • Voting in elections at their respective Chapter levels.
    • Access to resources, programs, and leadership opportunities.
  2. Members’ Responsibilities:
    • Uphold the values of Patriotism, Camaraderie/Unity, and Honor.
    • Actively support SOSH’s mission and initiatives.
    • Conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and civility.

Article V: Governance and Leadership

Section 1: National Leadership

  1. The Grand Chapter is led by a President, supported by Vice Presidents, a Treasurer, a Secretary, and Directors overseeing specific functional areas.
  2. The President represents SOSH publicly and provides strategic leadership in achieving its mission.

Section 2: State and Local Leadership

  1. State Governors and Local Chairs provide leadership at their respective levels, ensuring alignment with the goals of the Grand Chapter.
  2. Officers are elected by their Members and serve renewable terms as outlined in the Bylaws.

Article VI: Strategic Initiatives

SOSH operates through three core initiatives, collectively known as the AmeriCare Initiatives:

  1. America Remember:
    • Preserving and celebrating America’s history and cultural heritage.
    • Activities include educational programs, public tributes, and partnerships with historical organizations.
  1. America Rethink:
    • Promoting dialogue and innovative solutions to contemporary challenges.
    • Activities include public forums, debates, and educational resources.
  1. America Renew:
    • Inspiring community service, leadership development, and infrastructure revitalization.
    • Activities include volunteer projects, civic engagement programs, and leadership training.

Article VII: Finances and Fundraising

Section 1: Revenue Generation

SOSH’s financial sustainability is supported by:

  1. Donations and grants from individuals, businesses, and philanthropic organizations.
  2. Sponsorships for events and programs.

Section 2: Financial Oversight

  1. The Treasurer oversees all financial operations, ensuring transparency, accountability, and alignment with SOSH’s mission.
  2. Regular financial reports are reviewed by the Executive Board and made available to Members upon request.

Section 3: Local Chapter Support

  1. Grants and funding opportunities are available to Local Chapters to support their activities and initiatives.
  2. Local Chapters are encouraged to engage in fundraising activities consistent with SOSH’s principles.

Article VIII: Amendments

  1. Proposals for amendments to this Charter must be submitted in writing to the Grand Chapter’s President.
  2. Amendments require:
    • Review and approval by the Grand Chapter’s Executive Board.
    • Ratification by a two-thirds majority vote of State Chapter representatives

Article IX: Congressional Charter

  1. SOSH aspires to obtain a Congressional Charter, recognizing its role as a national, non-partisan, non-political organization dedicated to advancing America’s ideals.
  2. This Charter is prepared to meet the standards and expectations of Congressional review, ensuring SOSH’s mission, structure, and governance align with national priorities.

Article X: Dissolution

In the event of dissolution:

  1. All assets shall be distributed to nonprofit organizations aligned with SOSH’s mission.
  2. Historical records and materials shall be archived to preserve the legacy of The Society.

Article XI: Effective Date

This Charter shall take effect upon:

  1. Approval by the Grand Chapter Executive Board.
  2. Ratification by a majority of State Chapters.
  3. Notification to all Members and stakeholders.
