Each Committee has a Chairperson, who leads the group, and may also have a Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, and/or Committee Research Assistant to assist with the Committee’s activities. All Committees should meet at least once a month, preferably a week before the general Membership Meeting, for a minimum of one hour. Additionally, they meet for at least 30 minutes before the Monthly Business Meeting. The Society Chair and Vice Chair will meet with Committee Chairpersons as needed.
To honor and preserve American history, celebrate significant moments and figures, and organize events that reflect on the nation’s past.
⦁ Plan and host historical education programs, including storytelling nights, tributes to veterans, and community history projects.
⦁ Organize commemorative events, such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day tributes, in partnership with local communities.
⦁ Develop partnerships with local historical societies, schools, and museums to promote historical awareness.
⦁ Collect and share stories from Members about their personal or community history to honor America’s legacy.
To engage in civil discourse on today’s most pressing social, political, and economic issues.
⦁ Organize forums, debates, and town halls where Members and community members can discuss current events and policy issues in a respectful manner.
⦁ Provide educational resources and materials to ensure members are well-informed about different perspectives on national and local issues.
⦁ Facilitate structured discussions around important topics such as healthcare, environmental policy, education, and social justice.
⦁ Create a platform for Members to engage in solution-driven conversations and collaborate on ideas to address community and national challenges.
To promote community service, civic engagement, and leadership development.
⦁ Plan and coordinate local service projects, including clean-up days, food drives, and charitable events to support community members in need.
⦁ Develop leadership programs to help Members build skills in civic responsibility, public speaking, and community organization.
⦁ Lead civic engagement efforts such as voter registration drives, public awareness campaigns, and participation in local elections.
⦁ Work with local government and nonprofit organizations to identify areas of need and create service opportunities for Society members.
To recruit new members, engage current Members, and expand the Chapter’s reach within the community.
Responsibilities:
⦁ Develop and implement strategies to grow the Chapter’s membership base, focusing on recruitment efforts in local schools, universities, and community organizations.
⦁ Manage outreach programs to connect with potential Members and introduce them to the mission of SOSH.
⦁ Create and maintain a welcoming environment for new members, ensuring that they are integrated into the community and involved in projects.
⦁ Host membership drives, orientations, and meet-and-greet events to attract and retain engaged Members.
To organize social gatherings, team-building events, and special activities that foster camaraderie among Members.
⦁ Plan and host social events such as dinners, holiday celebrations, and informal gatherings to build a sense of community within the Chapter.
⦁ Organize recreational activities like trivia nights, group outings, and themed events that align with SOSH’s values.
⦁ Work in collaboration with other Committees to create events that mix social engagement with civic education or community service.
⦁ Manage logistics for Chapter-wide events, including venue booking, food and beverages, and entertainment.
To manage the Chapter’s finances, fundraising efforts, and budgeting, ensuring financial transparency and sustainability. The Treasurer serves as the Chairperson.
⦁ Oversee the Chapter’s budget, ensuring that funds are allocated properly to support various projects, events, and activities.
⦁ Plan and execute fundraising initiatives to support the Chapter’s mission and goals, including merchandise sales, crowdfunding, and donation drives.
⦁ Provide regular financial reports to the Chapter Chair and members, maintaining transparency and accountability.
⦁ Collaborate with other Committees to secure funds for events, service projects, and community outreach efforts.
To establish and maintain relationships with other Chapters, the State and Grand Chapter, local businesses, community organizations, schools, and other civic groups.
⦁ Identify potential partnership opportunities that align with SOSH’s mission and the goals of the Chapter.
⦁ Develop collaborations with local schools, nonprofit organizations, and government entities to create joint projects and initiatives.
⦁ Represent the Society at other organizations community events and functions at the request and sometimes in place of the Chair.
⦁ Oversee Inter-Societal relations at the Local, State, and National level.
⦁ Manage communications with partners, ensuring regular updates and engagement in Chapter activities.
⦁ Seek sponsorships, grants, or in-kind donations from local businesses to support the Chapter’s events and projects.
To manage all communications for the Chapter, including website content, social media presence, and public relations.
Responsibilities:
⦁ Maintain and update the Chapter’s website with news, event information, and project updates.
⦁ Develop and execute social media strategies to promote events, share success stories, and engage the broader community.
⦁ Work with other Committees to ensure that important messages, resources, and event announcements are communicated effectively.
⦁ Manage public relations efforts, including press releases, newsletters, and outreach to local media outlets to raise awareness of SOSH’s work
