Numbering Guide

Introduction to Chapters

The Society of Our Sacred Honor (SOSH) employs a structured ID and numbering system to facilitate organization and recognition within its membership and Society Chapters. This system helps identify Members (Patriots) and their associated Local Chapters at various levels of the organization. This systematic approach ensures clarity, cohesion, and recognition among its Members/Patriots across the nation. Here’s a comprehensive explanation of the system:

Chapter Structure and Numbering

  1. National Chapter (First Chapter)
    • Designation: 1st
    • Description: The supreme governing body of SOSH, known as the National Headquarters, led by the Grand Chapter President and Team.
  2. State Chapters
    • Each state has its own designated Chapter, numbered in a sequential order:
      • Tenth Chapter: North Carolina (1st-10th) – Commanding Governor.
      • Eleventh Chapter: Pennsylvania (1st-11th)
      • Twelfth Chapter: Washington, D.C. (1st-12th)
      • Thirteenth Chapter: [Any additional states can follow this format, such as 1st-13th, and so on.]
    • Description: The State specific governing body of SOSH, known as the [State Name] Chapter, led by the [State] Governor of The Society and their Team.
  3. Local Chapters
    • Local Chapters operate within individual communities, schools, or organizations and are assigned numbers based on their state’s numbering system:
      • Washington, D.C. Local Chapters:
        • First Local Chapter: 1st-12th-1st
        • Second Local Chapter: 1st-12th-2nd
        • Third Local Chapter: 1st-12th-3rd
        • Fourth Local Chapter: 1st-12th-4th
        • Fifth Local Chapter: 1st-12th-5th
  4. Examples of Local Chapters:
    • Tenth Chapter (North Carolina): The Early College of Guilford
      • Local Chapter Number: 1st-10th-1st
      • Chapter Chair: 1st-10th-1st-1st (indicating the first Local Chapter in the Tenth State Chapter).
    • Eleventh Chapter (Pennsylvania): Montgomery County
      • Local Chapter Number: 1st-11th-1st
    • Twelfth Chapter (Washington, D.C.): The George Washington University
      • Local Chapter Number: 1st-12th-1st

Member/Patriot ID System and Badge Colors

Every member of SOSH is referred to as a Patriot (Member) and is issued a unique Patriot/Member ID number. This number reflects their membership across different levels of the organization—National, State, and Local. The format of the Patriot ID is as follows:

  • ID Format: 1st-18th-36th-101st
    • The first number represents the Grand Chapter (National).
    • The second number represents the State Chapter (e.g., 10th for North Carolina).
    • The third number represents the Local Chapter.
    • The last number indicates the individual Patriot’s (Members) position within that Local Chapter.

Patriot/Member Numbering Hierarchy and Badge Color Identification

  1. Reserved Numbers:
    • The first 100 Patriot numbers are reserved for leadership and honorary roles:
      • 1-13: Reserved for the Executive Committee positions (Chair, Vice Chair, etc.):
        • 1st: Chair (Blue Honor Badge)
        • 2nd: Vice Chair (Red Honor Badge)
        • The remaining numbers are assigned based on leadership roles and special recognitions.
  2. Honor Badges:
    • 1-99: Reserved for various leadership positions and VIPs:
      • Numbers 14-50 can be allocated to Committee and appointed leaders at the Chair’s discretion.
      • Numbers 50-99 are reserved for honorary and special recognition members, requiring nomination and approval.
    • 100 and above: These numbers are designated for general members as they join the Local Chapter. Members from 100-110 are considered the Founding Patriots/Members of that respective Chapter, wearing a Blue Badge/Stripe. Subsequent members will wear a Black Badge/Stripe.

Purpose of the Numbering System

The numbering system serves several important purposes:

  • Organization: It clearly distinguishes between various levels of the organization, providing a structured hierarchy that aids in administrative functions.
  • Identity: Each member’s ID reflects their connection to both their Local and State Platoons, promoting a sense of belonging and community within the larger Society.
  • Leadership Accountability: The system helps assign and track leadership roles within each Platoon, ensuring that responsibilities are clear and roles are defined.
  • Inclusivity: The numbering system allows all members to have a unique identifier while providing opportunities for recognition, enhancing the spirit of unity, achievement, pride and success among Patriots/Members.

Membership Implications

Membership in any Local Chapter automatically grants membership in the corresponding State Chapter and the Grand Chapter. Thus, all Patriots/Members of a Local Chapter are also recognized as Patriots/Members of their respective State Chapter and the Grand Chapter of SOSH. This structure fosters a sense of community and interconnectedness among members at all levels.
